On September 17th, we’ll be hosting Lewes’ very own Oktoberfest in the Corn Exchange. We’ll be transforming the hall with our own Bavarian theme and we'll be laying on great food, beer and music. Replacing the Sausage ‘n’ Cider festival that’s been running for a few years, our Oktoberfest is something you won’t want to miss.
What about beers? We’re lucky to have a wealth of local breweries who each produce their own German style beers - Abyss, Beak, Only With Love and Harveys. All but one of the beers on offer will be from these breweries. Rothaus Pils is our only import, coming from the Rothaus brewery which lies just outside of Waldshut, the German twin town of Lewes. See out list of beers below. There’ll also be Gluwein and Schnapps on offer if you’re looking for something other than beer.
Of course, we’ll have a good selection of German food to compliment the beers. Plenty of different sausages, including a veggie option and a curry wurst – not to be missed. If you fancy something lighter, there’ll be various snacks available throughout the evening.
What beers and food are we going to have? You can’t have an Oktoberfest event without a German Oompah band. Deutschland Blasmusik Oompah Band will be playing throughout the evening, bringing you traditional German oompah music with a few modern twists thrown in. You may even get to take part in a few songs and games as they mingle with the crowd during the evening.
Tickets are priced at £10 and with limited numbers, we expect to sell out fast. Make sure you purchase your tickets before the event.
